Our Story.
Leland Lawn & Landscaping
Leland Lawn Service was established in 2002 when the opportunity was given to David to start his own lawn service company. Since he wasn't even old enough to drive, his father Mike, helped him the first year of mowing. Although he only had four lawns at the time, it kept the young boy busy.
They worked weekends together for a couple years before Mike decided it was time for a change, so he quit his desk job and went into full time lawn maintenance. David learned how to service lawn equipment from a family friend, and he worked throughout the summer with his father. Together they won their first large bid, a twelve home community that needed outdoor maintenance.
Leland Lawn continued to grow, expanding its services and equipment while upholding the high quality standard of work customers expected. "We were small enough that we couldn't make any mistakes." David says, "My dad would give a lecture for any mistakes I would make, and he would explain to me that we can't afford to lose any of our clients. Our family depends on these clients."
As Leland Lawn grew it became evident that more help was needed. The first full time employee was added and a few more part time to help out during the Summer months. David moved for college, but continued to come back to Pullman to work when he could to earn money for school. By the time he had finished college he knew that he wanted to work towards growing the family business. He moved back to Pullman and became a crew leader, focusing on lawn mowing and hillside trimming. Mike worked more towards tree services and landscape maintenance and Leland Lawn saw tremendous growth.
Today Leland Lawn has grown tremendously and we thank our local community for the support.
Throughout the last few years it has felt more like survival in business rather than thriving. We are thankful for hard working and reliable employees, and for patient and loyal customers who have stood by our side. Often the allure of prospective jobs are overshadowed by day-to-day struggles, HR troubles, and difficult world news. Know that we are doing our best to hire and retain good people and take pride in our work.
